While I will add some "pre trip" information here, the main purpose of the blog is to add photos and information as we travel on the Mission.
Pre-trip Tip 1
Coping with long flights
Not all students are familiar with long flights. Some seem to manage easily and see it as an adventure. Others find it very wearing. Here are some tips to help manage flights.
Planes can be cold: have some warmer clothing in your carry-on luggage
Dress for comfort. You are going to be sitting in those clothes for many, many hours!
Bring your own entertainment. Have your own headphones (noise cancelling if you can) plus at least a smart phone or iPod. An iPad can play music, show you a movie or allow you to play games or read a book. Have several options including a magazine to read.
Have some basic toiletries: you can't carry on big bottles or tubes, but you can get small toothpaste tubes, a small moisturiser, lip balm, and of course any medication you need. You eyes may also dry out being in strong air conditioning for that amount of time.
Carry your own snacks. While there will be food served, it may not be served when you are peckish or be to your liking. Put some snacks in your bag, share them around with your team.
Exercise: move your feet, stand up, do some stretches, walk around the cabin.
Deliberately break up the long hours: half an hour of reading, half an hour of chatting, half an hour of music with your eyes closed: mix it up.
