Cambodia is a pleasant and relatively safe place to travel, but there is one danger the team needs to be very aware of. It is unwise to drink any water that does not come out of a bottle, and you should only eat food that your team leaders provide or approve.
Many travellers to third world countries experience tummy problems. There are a whole range of bugs in food, water, and on surfaces. Nothing we can do will guarantee that everyone will have a trouble free trip, but there are several precautions we will take.
Don't drink any water, or put any water in your mouth, that does not come from a bottle.
Don't eat food washed in water or have ice blocks unless we are at an approved restaurant with safe food practices.
Wash your hands regularly... much more often than you do at home. Wash before eating. You can carry a hand sanitiser that does not require soap and water.
Clean your teeth with bottle water as well
Don't eat foods you think may be a problem for you. If curries or chili upset your tummy at home, don't eat these things on the trip.
Let your team leaders know if you have any problems such as diarrhoea or you are feeling unwell.
Whatever you do, keep drinking water. Bottled water will be supplied and in this very hot country you must keep well hydrated.
